Who Are We?
The RESQIUM 2026 Disaster Awareness Summit is a multi-stakeholder and multidisciplinary organization organized by the Maltepe University Search and Rescue Club, aimed at increasing disaster awareness, developing volunteer search and rescue capacity, and strengthening community resilience.
The Maltepe University Search and Rescue Club is a volunteer student organization founded after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes on February 6, 2023. The club gains both theoretical knowledge and field experience through AFAD and INSARAG level trainings; and conducts social responsibility projects in earthquake zones, village schools, container cities, orphanages, etc. To date, book and toy support has been provided to 1243 children, and libraries have been established in memory of students who lost their lives in the earthquake.
In addition to technical search and rescue activities, the club adopts an interdisciplinary approach in the fields of psychology, first aid, and social responsibility, developing the knowledge and skills of team members in crisis management and disaster response. Trainings and events are planned in cooperation with academicians, experts, and NGOs.
